Notes: Tyr-Cys-Cys-His-Pro-Ala-Cys-Gly-Lys-Asn-Phe-Asp-Cys-NH2 a-Conotoxin SIA is another peptide from Conus striatus venom that blocks the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. In contrast to a-conotoxin SI, it exhibits significant biological activity in higher vertebrates, but it is less potent than the a-conotoxins GI and MI. The family of a-conotoxins should therefore provide a set of useful ligands for probing the acetylcholine receptor.
